CSEAR was established over 20 years ago in order to undertake and promote research on social and environmental accounting. In addition to the annual International Congress, CSEAR has co-organised a number of academic conferences with tertiary institutions around the world– including Australia, Canada, Finland, France, Portugal, Spain and New Zealand. This is the first time that CSEAR holds an international, regional conference in Hong Kong. As the global financial centre of China, Hong Kong has witnessed the growing salience of sustainability performance issues in accounting and financing among legal entities operating in the region. This conference will provide a platform to share current research and developments in Social and Environmental Accounting, Sustainability Accounting and Responsible Investment. It will facilitate an inter-disciplinary forum for scholars, practitioners and experts to exchange new ideas, encourage ongoing debate, and discuss emerging research agendas.

Research on Social and Environmental Accounting

CSEAR aims to be a world-recognized, global community of scholars who engage with students, activists, practitioners, policy makers and other interested groups in order to generate and disseminate knowledge on social and environmental accounting and accountability. Professor Rob Gray, the founder of CSEAR, shares his views in the short lecture below about Accountability and Sustainability.
